CARE programming is shifting from project (short term) to programme (long term) approach. The Country Office completed the design of the Northern Uganda Women Empowerment Programme (NUWEP) both multi-years (10-15 years) programmes. The programme impact population are women and girls of reproductive age affected by conflict in Northern Uganda.
Job Summary: The Accounts Officer – (Kampala) will primarily be responsible for the timely entry of the Accounts Receivable, AP recording of payments, Cash Management and banking module of People soft, Organising, transmitting and filing Country Office monthly financial information inclusive of vouchers, bank information, financial correspondence etc. The position also involves ensuring orderliness within the finance department. S/he deals with all cash receipts and payments
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Do timely data Entry in the Cash Management and Accounts Receivable modules of People Soft
  • Cheque preparation /CITI direct payment and disbursements in a proper and timely manner
  • Proper and timely recording of Receipts and timely banking  
  • Filing of all financial documents, records and communications on a daily basis to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The Accounts Officer should possess a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Additional professional qualifications like ACCA/CPA Level 1 will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of two years experience in a relevant in a relevant field of accounting or Finance in a busy environment
  • Experience in working in INGO an added advantage  
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. (word processing and spreadsheets)
  • Trustworthiness, Stress tolerance, good communication and operational decision making skills
  • Ability to share knowledge and experience plus fluency in English
  • Good Interpersonal and good communication skills
  • Willingness to Learn at all times.
