UPMB:
The Uganda Protestant
Medical Bureau (UPMB) is a leading Christian Organization coordinating over 277
health facilities spread all over Uganda. The UPMB network in conjunction with
Mildmay Uganda received funding from PEPFAR to recruit Human Resources for
Health for some of its facilities.
Job
Summary:
The Enrolled
Midwives will offer midwifery nursing services and public health interventions
to patients and the community.



Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receiving
    patients, registering admissions, discharges and deaths.
  • Providing
    care during pregnancy, labor, delivery and puerperium with emphasis to
    prevention of infection and complications to mothers and baby.
  • Sensitizing
    mothers about the benefits of breast feeding and recommended diet.
  • Participating
    in bedside nursing procedures as a member of the caring team.
  • Participating
    in Doctors/clinical officer’s ward rounds.
  • Observing
    and compiling daily ward reports for the attention of the relevant
    authorities.
  • Preparing
    patients for meals and participating in serving them.
  • Managing
    and accounting for allocated resources.
  • Maintaining
    a clean and healthy environment for the patients.
  • Strictly
    adhering to professional code of conduct and Ethics.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
  • The
    Enrolled Midwife should have an Enrolled midwifery Certificate from a
    recognized institution OR a certificate in Enrolled comprehensive Nursing
    [for appointment on trial basis for 1 year with a possibility to extend
    for two years.
  • All
    candidates should be registered with the Nurses and midwives Council.
  • The
    job holder must have a valid practicing License.
  • Those
    who have completed six months remedial training in midwifery are
    encouraged to apply.
