About Educate!:

Educate! works to transform the education system in Uganda to prepare youth to be leaders and entrepreneurs who take leadership initiative, create small businesses, and improve livelihoods for themselves and their communities.
Educate! delivers to 16-20 year old youth within Ugandan schools a practical and relevant model of education, comprised of a leadership and entrepreneurship course, interactive teaching, intensive mentorship, experience starting an enterprise, and access to out of school networks and resources. Through advocacy and direct service in schools, it works to get this model to be part of the education system.
Educate! currently reaches almost 5,000 youth, has seen 56% of its graduates start businesses and make almost $40 a month, has backing from Ashoka and Echoing Green, and got its curriculum incorporated into Uganda’s national entrepreneurship curriculum, reaching over 25,000 annually.

Job Summary: Educate!, a rapidly-growing social enterprise based in Kampala, is seeking a Monitoring & Evaluation Operations Manager to partner with the leadership team to manage and strengthen the organization’s performance management systems and research efforts. As a member of Educate!’s senior leadership team, the M&E Operations Manager directs Educate!’s monitoring and evaluation strategy; leads the organization’s M&E research; provides support for the development of operational systems; and supports strategic planning so that Educate! can successfully scale to reach 100,000 students across 1,000 schools in Uganda within 10 years.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1.      Set Monitoring & Evaluation Strategy
·         Develop and oversee monitoring systems to track success of program implementation
·         Design research and evaluation efforts to assess the impact of Educate!’s programs
·         Improve data systems – collection, storage, use – to increase effectiveness and scalability of M&E systems
·         Manage a team of 3 full-time staff
2.     Support Strategic Planning
·         Use data to make programmatic recommendations to Educate!’s senior leadership
·         Collaborate with management team to set program milestones and Key Performance Indicators
3.     Lead Research and Evaluation
  • Conduct and oversee analysis of data from day-to-day M&E activities as well as the ongoing ILO-funded impact evaluation of the Educate! Experience program
  • Prepare high-quality reports for internal and external audiences
  • Build an organizational knowledge base through research and partnerships
  • Develop and sustain a partnership with at least one top-tier international academic/research institution to provide additional evaluation technical support
4.     Support Operational Systems
  • Explore and provide recommendations for innovative technologies to streamline monitoring, evaluation and other operational functions
  • Build staff capacity through training and technical assistance for accurate data collection and reporting
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in a quantitative or administrative discipline (Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration or a related field).
  • 3-5 years experience in programmatic and administrative leadership in positions of progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Experience in M&E, operations management, and/or strategic planning.
  • Fluency in statistical software (e.g. STATA, SPSS, R), MS Access, Excel, Salesforce and/or other database software strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of internal motivation for high achievement and drive for continued learning.
  • Strong desire to work in a youthful, energetic and fast-changing environment.
  • Interest in youth livelihoods, entrepreneurship and leadership education.
  • Ugandan citizens are encouraged to apply.
Terms and Compensation: Compensation is competitive and based on qualifications and experience. Reimbursement for international travel insurance. Two-year commitment required.
