GEM-U:

child and young people development organization that promotes and advocates for
the education of children through arrange of innovative education programmes
and projects. Our aim is to enable the youth in Uganda to realize their full
potential and have their achievements recognized.

who are too rarely hard and builds skills that will remain useful throughout

Job
Summary:
  • Overall
    head of the Education Unit of the organization – Clubs and Chapters,
    Scholarships.
  • Take
    charge of Unit Program Planning, Implementation, Reporting and
    documentation.
  • Responsible
    for Program systems, guidelines and manuals/handbooks.
  • Quality
    assurance of the unit
  • Provides
    strategic support to GEM-U Director of Programmes.
Key
Duties & Responsibilities:
1.     
Strategic
Planning:
·        
Support
the Development, and Execute the organization’s Education program strategy.
·        
 Responsible
for planning and  implementation of overall Education program.
·        
 Projecting
program resource needs and sourcing funding
2.    
Program
Delivery:
·        
Lead
person for Education Program Implementation
·        
Strategies
and Innovations
·        
Work
plans
·        
Approaches,
Methods and Guidelines [Handbooks and manuals]
·        
Activity
Coordination
·        
Partnership
development
·        
Overall
monitoring of Education program performance.
·        
   Serve
as coach and mentor to all Education program staff and members; particularly
with regard to GEM-U Goals, Values and Strategic Plan
·        
Unit
Staff capacity assessment and development.
3.    
 Reporting
and Documentation:
  • Responsible
    for overall Education program reporting
  • Education
    documentation and profiling
  • Disseminating
    Education program best practices
 Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
  • A
    Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences/Social Work/Development Studies
  • At
    least 4 years’ experience in a similar position in a Youth focused NGO
  • Track
    record in Youth programming, with a focus on Education
  • Clear
    understanding of Youth Programming and management
  • Experience
    in Project planning and management
  • Experience
    in GEM activities-added advantage
  • Team
    leader, guide and mentor in Education programming
  • Computer
    literacy and agility
  • Good
    Inter-personal, communication and report writing skills
  • Self
    -motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Report
    writing + M & E
