Job Title: Underwriter
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Team Leader
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Underwriting
    of business i.e. issuing stickers, endorsements, policy documents and renewals
  • Acceptance
    of risk and facultative placements up to a prescribed limit;
  • Broker
    visits and attending to broker queries;
  • Preparation
    of weekly and monthly reports
  • Receiving
    proposal forms and making timely quotations and follow ups
  • Marketing
    all classes of business
  • Any
    duties as delegated by Supervisor
 Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • A
    University degree in a business related course or Actuarial science
    obtained from a recognized university
  • A
    Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (COP) is a prerequisite
  • Possession
    of ACII or progress towards an Insurance professional qualification will
    have an added advantage,
  • Three
    (3) years relevant experience.
  • Must
    be computer literate in MS Word, MS Excel, Pastel
  • An
    enquiring and analytical mind;
  • A
    good command of the English language coupled with the ability to
    communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability
    to work with limited supervision
