Job Summary: The Project
Officer – Market Development will be responsible for overseeing the
implementation of GOAL Livelihoods project which aims to bring private sector
markets closer to the farmers of Agago District. The beneficiaries will be the
general poor farmers of the District and specifically 105 Farmer Field Schools
(FFS) groups with whom GOAL has been working for several years.
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Market Development
    Technical oversight Here, the Project Officer – Market Development will
    expected to support and oversee the private sector partner to ensure that
    they are performing and are providing business skills development and
    offering a fair market to the farmers.
  • He will also be
    responsible for the Monitoring and Evaluation whereby he/she will required
    to gather and enter monitoring data into an online system.
  • He/she be expected to
    use this data lo review programme delivery and action any programme
    challenges that arise from the monitoring data.
  • The monitoring work
    will be reviewed and quality assured by the Kampala based M&E Officer.
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
  • Bsc. in Agricultural
    Economics, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Cooperative Management or
    related field;
  • At least 5 years of
    demonstrated experience in livelihoods, farmer organisations and
     management and  commodity bulking  and  marketing;
  • Highly numerate
    (descriptive statistics) and ability to process and interpret monitoring
    data;
  • Good oral, analytical
    and writing skills;
  • Ability and
    willingness to ride a Motor cycle with a valid riding license because the
    roles involves extensive motor cycle riding;
  • Computer literacy –
    including excel, statistical packages and on line databases;
  • Experience of
    programme monitoring using tools and databases.
  • Commercial farming and
    trading experience;
  • Experience working
    with rural farmers and network;
  • Experience in
    Agricultural extension work;
  • Saving Stoves.
