The World Food Programme
(WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. It is
the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently WFP
focuses on three priority areas namely, Emergency Humanitarian Action (EHA);
Food & Nutrition Security (FNS); and Agriculture & Market Support
(AMS). WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible
    for programme management as part of the Food & Nutrition Security sub
    unit
  • Provide
    support to the sub-offices in the monitoring and implementation of
    activities targeting Karamoja; ensuring communication with government and
    other NGO stakeholders.
  • Review
    of call forwards for commodities from the sub-office
  • Timely
    disbursement of food requirements to the targeted project sites in
    Karamoja.
  • Charged
    with financial record management of the second Northern Uganda Social
    Action Fund (NUSAF2) project which includes follow-up with partner finance
    staff in submitting financial records, management of FLA databases,
    filling of records, tracking of reported expenditures per Field Level
    Agreements (FLA) and budget line and internal invoice tracking.
  • Responsible
    for making Other Direct Operating Cost (ODOC) implementing partners on the
    basis of reconciled beneficiary lists.
  • Do
    narrative reporting of the NUSAFs (WFP) project which includes follow-up
    on implementing partner field programme staff on the timely submission of project
    output records and narrative reports, record filling, internal output
    tracking versus Sub-office monitoring records and collaboration with the
    Assessment Monitoring and Evaluation (AME) / Programme Management
    Information System (PROMIS) on the management of the outputs database.
  • Track
    work plans and periods of food deliveries / cash transfers of
    sub-projects.
  • Participate
    in Quarterly Desk audit of partners.
  • Support
    to the development of the Cash Transfer Modality under the Country
    Programme.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • A
    graduate degree in one of the following disciplines; social sciences, agriculture
    economics, development studies or a related field from a reputable institution.
  • Six
    (6) Years experience working in development projects and / or emergency
    assistance gained in reputable organizations.
  • Experience
    in management is necessary
  • Good
    Computer skills particularly MS Office.
  • Knowledge
    of project planning and management is highly desirable.
  • Fluency
    in oral and written English is a must.
