Job
Summary:
The Country
Logistics Manager will be charged with the responsibility of ensuring quality
in logistics support across the Uganda program and to client countries.

Key
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • ·        
    You
    will have a proven capacity and experience to lead , coordinate and manage high
    quality logistic operations in complex situations .
  • ·        
    The
    Country logistics manager will maintain an overview of Oxfam policy, systems
    and procedures relevant to logistics, and ensure that developments are
    communicated and implemented approximately through regular reviews .
  • ·        
    You
    will involve maintaining an overview of the logistics needs of the Uganda
    program and other client countries.
  • ·        
    Work
    with program managers / coordinators to identify all logistical needs and how
    to acquire them.
  • ·        
    Ensure
    that the logistical function is delivering on time, in a cost-effective way,
    high quality whilst delivering support to the field teams to comply to the
    standards in logistics work.
  • ·        
    Prepare
    logistics summary and analysis reports for the country.
  • ·        
    Do
    research or project work on Oxfam’s logistical aspects to document experience
    and build institutional learning.
  • ·        
    Support
    program managers / coordinators on security issues including safety, security
    and evacuation of staff.
  • ·        
    Management
    of the security of assets including fleet of vehicles.
  • ·        
    Build
    relationships with suppliers, NGOs, government offices and UN agencies on
    logistical issues.
  • ·        
    Manage
    all logistics and administration staff in the Kampala office while providing
    support to the field teams through mentorship, assessment, training and
    coaching.
  • ·        
    Be
    part of the leadership team in the Uganda office.


 Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:  
  • ·        
    Should
    have a Graduate degree or a professional qualification in a relevant field and
    at least 10 years experience in a senior management position in logistics and
    procurement.
  • ·        
    Experience
    of management /supervisory responsibilities , including support to development
    of others is essential .
  • ·        
    Excellent
    written and spoken English is essential.
  • ·        
    You
    should have commitment to humanitarian principals and action as well as
    demonstrated experience of intergrating gender and diversity issues into
    logistics programs.
  • ·        
    Past
    NGO experience will be an added advantage.
  • ·        
    Good
    Interpersonal Skills and team player.
  • ·        
    Flexibility
    in working when demanded.
  • ·        
    Be
    familiar with and abide by the NGO / Red Cross Code of Conduct, the People in
    Aid Code, Oxfam International Procedures and other regulatory codes.
  • ·        
    Good
    computer literacy more so MS Word and MS Excel.
