International Development (DFID) is leading the British Government’s fight
against world poverty. Our client DFID Uganda seeks to recruit dynamic,
experienced and adaptable individuals to join its Country team.
Job Summary: The Programme Officer will be
expected to provide core project administration/management, contribute to
policy discussion in the relevant sectors with key partners and respond to
Corporate Compliance returns.
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the design and
    delivery of projects/programmes.
  • Manage all operational/implementation
    aspects of programme management.
  • Provide input into financial
    corporate returns (Forecasting, end of year exercise) as required by the
    Departmental Finance Officer.
  • Liaise with the Lead Adviser to
    maintain a risk matrix for projects/programmes and ensure that they are
    discussed/updated on a quarterly basis.
  • Attending field visits with partners
    in order to effectively monitor programmes.
  • Ensure all documentation regarding
    any key decisions made on respective projects/programmes is electronically
    filed.
  • Ensure the timely completion of
    programme/Project reviews.
  • Ensure all projects/programmes are
    in line with corporate guidance.
  • Provide direct support to the Team
    Leaders and contribute to policy discussions as assigned.
  • Provide inputs to internal policy
    discussion and submissions.
  • Ensure that all documents and
    information posted on the DFID’s Programme Management electronic system
    adhere to the transparency guidelines.
  • Work closely with DFID
    Communications Team to produce products that demonstrate results and Value
    for Money.
  • Attend conferences, workshops and
    meetings on behalf of/in the absence of Lead Adviser.
Qualifications, Skills
& Experience:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Social
    Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years experience in a
    programme or projects management/ administration role
  • Experience of working with
    Government, multi-lateral agencies and development partners to identify
    problems/obstacles and develop/implement practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of Project Cycle
    Management
  • Strong financial management
    knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to work effectively as part
    of a team to deliver results.
  • Self starter who is able to take and
    see through delegated decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
    skills
