Care Uganda Social Work Jobs – Programme Coordinator Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRHR)

Job Summary: The SRHR Programme Coordinator is a technical specialist in the areas of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights programming. Under the various funding streams within the program, the SRHR Programme Coordinator contributes to the implementation of Sexual and Reproductive health and rights activities within the NUWEP.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1.      Assess, facilitate and strengthen the capacity for partners, other stakeholders and target community to conduct SRHR activities according to National, international frameworks/standards/conventions.
  • Conduct training needs assessment for partners and impact groups to identify their strength and weaknesses in the implementation of SRHR program specific activities.
  • Design SRHR community training needs assessment tools and methodologies relevant to the impact population of the program.
  • Support and implement appropriate strategies to address the capacity gaps of the identified partners and target population.
  • Collaborate with the implementing partners and local government in ensuring scaling up, proper functioning and accessible reproductive health services, ensuring linkages/ integration with  other NUWEP program components
  • Work closely with partner organizations, facilitate and organize training workshops for skills building, sensitization and capacity building for the relevant stakeholders, implementing partners and target communities. This will include specific and targeted response training with different stakeholders- health workers, impact groups, men, youth and community leader
  • Participate in the hiring and monitoring of resource persons and or consultant
2.     Initiate, design and implement IEC/BCC strategies for purposes of increasing awareness on SRHR
  • Lead internal processes for development, management and dissemination of SRHR information, focusing on knowledge, attitudes and skills of the impact population and different stakeholders.
  • Identify existing resources and potential channels for communication that can be mobilized to inform the community and scale up interventions addressing SRHR challenges and gaps.
  • Work with partners and stakeholders to design models, methodologies, innovations aimed at uptake of SRHR /behavioural change information
  • Determine key messages to be disseminated based on assessments, feedback, PRA findings in the target community and inform documentation processes
  • Establish and implement a plan for information dissemination for the NUWEP Impact groups on SRHR
  • Together with the Program team, develop simple methods and training materials for partners to communicate SRHR messages to the impact groups/ community and other stakeholders.
3.     Participate in the development and maintenance of effective SRHR information (M & E) system.
·         Participate in the continuous review of the M&E system with specific emphasis on providing support to the management of an SRHR data base
·         In consultation with the program Quality and learning department, relevant community based field staff, develop data collection tools, appropriate reporting/ referral forms and monthly data collection forms for data management
·         Work closely with the other program component specialists, partners to ensure that they have an effective SRHR database and input in the development work plans , quarterly and annual reports
·         Ensure that Sub county/Parish based community structures and partner organizations are functioning and submitting reports to relevant community leaders, the sub county leaders, CARE and other relevant offices
·         Participate in evaluating progress towards achievement of program/project outcomes  
·         Provide on-going support supervision and monitoring to  implementing partners and community structures  to ensure delivery of quality SRHR services and program quality
·         Identify, prepare and document SRHR lessons learnt under the NUWEP Program implementation
4.     Ensure effective coordination and network system at the parish, sub county and district levels are operational, maintaining a high reputation.
  • In collaboration with the implementing partners, coordinate, support and facilitate monthly, quarterly and sub county level discussions and coordination meetings as may be required.
  • Represent CARE at the Districts, Sub County, Parish and with other relevant sector working group meetings as required from time to time
  • Establish and maintain cordial and professional relations with local partners and collaborators including district officials and sub county leaders.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Bachelor’s degree in a Health related field, Demography, social sciences or Social works   
·         At least 3-5 years hands on professional experience is required
·         Skills in Sexual and Reproductive programming, GBV & HIV/AIDS programming will be an added advantage
·         Experience working in large teams with multiple deliverables
·         Ability to network, build relationships and establish collaboration with different partners, agencies, local and international networks
·         Multiple skills including computer literacy, M&E, documentation, report writing, sound judgment, inter personal, communication, decision making  skills an added advantage
