About NCBA – CLUSA Uganda:
The National Cooperative Business Association – CLUSA Uganda is seeking highly qualified individuals to support a United States Department of Agriculture funded project to increase smallholder farmers’ incomes through adoption of conservation agriculture techniques in Uganda.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Work in close collaboration with the Financial Services Specialist and technical team to identify gaps for stakeholders in accessing financing and participate in designing innovative solutions to solving the financial bottlenecks along the value chain;
·         Support Agribusiness Advisors in creation and/or strengthening of VSLAs/SACCOS and conduct capacity building trainings/support to Rural Financial Entities;
·         Coordinate work plans with the technical team that incorporate financial services development at farmer’s organizations, agro-input dealers, tiller service providers or tool manufacturers;
·         Work with financial institutions to develop products/services that farmers in conservation farming require.
·         Participate in marketing of existing and developed financial products/services to promote product uptake and utilization to ensure that individual farmers and/or farmer organizations open savings accounts or other accounts as advised by the financial institutions;
·         Work with financial institutions and insurance companies to avail micro insurance for crops; a business model is followed to ensure payments and sustainability;
·         Train and provide support to field staff in a farmer focused financial literacy education program to cover farmer organizations in all 13 CLUSA program focus districts;
·         Provide support to field staff in assessment of rural financial entities to identify weak areas in which these entities can be strengthened by CLUSA;
·         Participate in designing intervention strategies in capacity building, financial management that will be used successfully by partner rural financial entities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·         Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, and/or related field to financial and investment planning;
·         Knowledge in setting up SACCOs/VSLAs in rural areas and those local institutions that support SACCO growth;
·         A wide network of contacts in the banking and/or business community;
·         Experience in facilitating meetings to reach a goal or consensus;
·         Good understanding of agricultural/value chain financial risk;
·         Analytical and report writing experience;
·         Knowledge of banking systems and micro lending and processes a must;
·         Willingness to live upcountry a must
·         Ability to speak languages of northern Uganda strongly desired.
