Job Summary:
The Uganda WASHplus Integration Coordinator will coordinate WASH integration activities with the Government of Uganda and USAID Implementing Partners, underthe direction of the Deputy Director/ Behavior Change Specialist based in Washington, DC and in close coordination with the USAID Community Connector project and the FHI 360 Country Director in Uganda.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Manage strategic implementation of the approved WASHplus Uganda technical work plan and budget.
·         At the national level, work with USAID, the Government of Uganda and key implementing partners to integrate improved and comprehensive WASH language into key policy and programming guidance
·         Serve as a national resource on WASH integration approaches
·         Organize and oversee strategic activities such as trainings and stakeholder meetings to support WASH-HIV and WASH-nutrition Integration and other WASH activities
·         Lead an assessment of available HIV and nutrition capacity building and job resources used by USAID Implementing Partners, identify WASH gaps, and manage the development, testing and production of additional job aids and other BCC materials such as a radio series to support a range of outreach workers to integrate improved WASH practice into HIV and nutrition activities.
·         Represent WASHplus at key national WASH, nutrition and HIV events and meetings including technical working groups as appropriate
·         Support district governments from Kabale, Kisoro and Kanugu to develop grant proposals for WASH-related activities
·         Assist in monitoring and supporting the progress of WASHplus activities in Uganda
·         Assist in documenting experiences, preparing reports, etc.
·         Support activities as directed by the WASHplus Deputy
·         Director/BC Specialist in Washington DC
·         Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Functions
·         Work with other partners in the region to design, develop social behavior change tools and materials for WASH integration
·         Support districts and other stakeholders to conduct social mobilization for WASH
·         Oversee all the SBC activities related to WASH in nutrition and HIV in the implementing districts Support regional partners to plan, implement, and report SBC issues for WASH in nutrition and HIV
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Basic degree in environmental health sciences or related field Master’s degree in one of the following or related fields: Public health, environmental health, adult education or other job-related field required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
·         5 years of relevant experience required
·         Strong program management skills, including work planning and reporting
·         Previous experience or knowledge working with international organizations and USAID-funded initiatives is highly desirable
·         Excellent written and oral English. Fluency in Rukiga is required; other local Southwest languages desirable.
·         Proficiency in MS Office, Internet applications required Familiarity and experience working with government, PVOs and NGOs
·         Understanding and experience in health behavior change, including but not limited to communication approaches.
·         Demonstrated experience in building capacity of government and CB0 cadres over time
·         Solid command of grant writing, development of appropriate outcomes, outputs, indicators and budgets (optional but desired, please note skill level in this area when applying)
