Salary: The gross monthly salary range is Uganda Shillings 2,605,128/- to 3,367,949/-.
About British High Commission:
The British High Commission (BHC) Kampala and The Department for International Development (DFID) Uganda seek to recruit a dynamic, experienced and adaptable Human Resource Officer to join their Joint Management Unit (JMU), on a six month fixed term contract.
The Joint Management Unit (JMU) brings together the corporate service functions of the BHC Kampala and DFID Uganda. The objective of the JMU is to support the delivery of the BHC Kampala’s Country Business Plan and the DFID Uganda development programme, by providing effective and responsive support services in line with best practice and value for money.
Working as part of the HR Team, the Human Resource Officer is responsible for providing responsive HR support services in the following key areas: staff learning and development, performance management, staff medical and welfare, recruitment, induction and management of HR databases and records.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Provide HR support &administrative services to BHC and DFID staff.
Coordinating recruitment and postings exercises.
·         Draft and issue employment contracts and Terms &Conditions of Service to new staff;
·         Respond to HR correspondence and queries.
·         Coordinate security clearance process for new staff;
·         Organize accommodation and travel arrangements for HR related and official duty visits.
·         Provide support to official visitors and new staff e.g. entry visa requirements and letters, country briefing notes and security briefs.
·         Maintain HR records and information on the HR databases.
·         Collate staff learning needs and arrange in-house training activities
·         Maintain staff training records and monitor progress of the learning and development plans.
·         Coordinate Induction process for new staff – draft office induction programmes, prepare induction packs and checklists.
·         Coordinate staff Medical and Welfare activities as required.
·         Process HR related payments.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Bachelor Degree or Diploma holder in Human Resources Management, Business/Office Administration, Social Sciences or equivalent.
·         Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in HR Management and/or Office Administration.
·         Excellent planning, organisational and implementation skills.
·         Strong interpersonal skills
·         Self starter, with drive and enthusiasm.
·         IT literate (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong written and oral communications skills
·         Good Financial awareness will be an added advantage
