UNICEF M&E Jobs – Monitoring Specialist

Duty Station: Kampala
Type and Duration of Appointment: Fixed-Term Appointment (One Year with possible extension)
Job Purpose:
·         Under the supervision of the Deputy Representative, and in close collaboration with the Head of the Planning Unit and all the Section Chiefs, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the planning, formulation, design, and implementation of the Integrated Monitoring Plan meets the overall programme and situation monitoring need of the country office, including equity-focused and bottleneck-based monitoring approach.
·         The incumbent will be responsible for introduction of any new monitoring frameworks; design of the country programme logical framework for monitoring; and design of major statistical analysis as may be needed by the country office. Provides technical support to partners on design and implementation of national population-based surveys; prepares data-driven programme status reports and identifies capacity development needs for the purpose of strengthening national capacity for programme and situation monitoring.
·         Analyzes and evaluates data to ensure achievement of results and recommends corrective action.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·         Advanced university degree in Statistics, demography, development planning, Social sciences or a related technical field.
·         Eight years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme and situation monitoring.
·         Must have proven experience in design and implementation national social development surveys, such as DHS/MICS and management of national social data banks and conducting situation analysis on children and women.
·         Fluency in English is required and strong written and verbal communications skill therein strongly desirable.
