About
NETWAS:

The Network For Water and
Sanitation (NETWAS) Uganda is a non- profit making organization that was
registered in Uganda in 1996 to provide services in the Water Supply,
Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector. NETWAS Uganda is affiliated to NETWAS
International, which is part of the International Training Network (ITN) for
Water and Waste management, which supports activities of the sector in
developing countries.

NETWAS Uganda contributes
its part to enhancing water supply, sanitation and Hygiene sector capacity
(numbers, knowledge and skills) and also carries out social mobilization,
action research, Knowledge management and information dissemination in the WASH
sector of Uganda from national level to grass root level both in urban and
rural areas.

Job
Summary:
To provide
strategic and operational leadership to NETWAS (U) in line with the
organization’s vision, mission and set policies and guidelines.

Key
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide
    Leadership, Strategic direction and carry-out Resource mobilisation
  • Lead
    NETWAS’s strategic planning & implementation process; develop &
    implement NETWAS’s annual work plans and budgets; provide internal
    leadership, direct and develop staff; oversee resource mobilisation
    including proposal writing.
  • Programme
    development and direction
  • Develop
    the programme work in- each of the four pillars of NETWAS; maintain a
    working knowledge of significant developments and trends in WASH globally
    and more specifically in Africa.
  • Management,
    Administration and organisation Manage the day to day affairs of NETWAS;
    Provide Financial management oversight including reporting to the
    different partners and the council; Coordinate meetings of the council and
    maintain effective communication with the council and Management.
  • Public
    relations and advocacy
  • Serve
    as NETWAS’s spokesperson, including interacting with development partners
    and national government and representing the organisation at conferences
    and meetings; maintain and build links with national, regional and
    international organisations.

Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum
    of a Masters degree in, Development Studies, Organization and
    Institutional Development, Social Sciences, Water Resource Management,
    Civil Engineering, Public Health or other related field.
  • Post
    graduate qualification in organizational and programme management is an
    added advantage.
  • Minimum
    of 8 years proven work experience at senior Management level, Experience
    in the Water and Environment sector is an added advantage.
  • Proven
    track record in resource mobilisation with emphasis on proposal writing
    and negotiation skills;
  • Skills
    in financial management, programme management including advocacy and
    capacity building, monitoring and evaluation and be able to influence
    others for action at both internal and external levels;
  • Experience
    working with a Non-Governmental Organization and working in partnership
    with government and Donors
