·         Installation of standard software’s and the service packs and patches
·         Disk management – creating partitions for the different types of servers
·         Joining the machine to domain
·         Modification of network settings
·         Disk space management
·         Log file maintenance
·         Preparation/update of CMDB
·         CPU, Memory monitoring
·         Shift update/handover
·         Updating knowledge base
·         User account management
·         Services monitoring
·         Backup completion
·         ID reconciliation (removal of unwanted IDs from the privileges given in the domain )
Deliverables for L2
·         Customizing the installation for the requirement – modification of programs, installation/Uninstallation of services and setting the startup options, configuring the applications as per the requirement
·         Configuration of DHCP scopes and reservations
·         Configuration of Routing and remote access in case it has to be VPN server
·         Configuration of WINS
·         Configuring backup (native backup if there is no 3rd party software’s available)
·         Configuring IIS – web server, log settings
·         Configuring terminal services – terminal server
·         AD database management
·         Preparation of daily/weekly/monthly checklist
·         Scheduling the patch installation
·         shift update/handover
·         Updating knowledge base
·         Event log analysis at regular interval for maintaining the integrity of   database/servers
·         Preparation of FMEA
·         Preparation of RCA for the problem calls
·         Preparing procedural documents for the engineers
·         Setting benchmark in server performance and thus by deriving at capacity improvement
·         Closure of audit points and the NCR

  • Call analysis
  • Change management – monitoring and approving the changes and defining roll back plans

  • Patch deployment plan preparation with test results
  • Performance tuning
  • Preparing procedural documents for the engineers
  • Preparation of training calendar for the engineers
  • Server sizing
  • Trend analysis and capacity planning
  • Audit on servers – People, Process & Technology
  • DR plan setup – Not part of sustenance scope
  • Hardware sizing – Capacity planning for the OS Parameters like CPU, Memory & Disk
  • New projects based on the requirements – Not part of sustenance Scope
  • Deliverables for AD Administrator
  • Creating and managing directory structures
  • Creating and managing domains
  • Creating and managing volumes
  • Assign Protocol addresses
  • Creation of new users and deletion of existing users on request.
  • Create and maintain users groups
  • Create and maintain users profiles
  • Create login and logon scripts
  • Assigning and Maintaining user access rights as per policies defined and agreed upon by MTN.
  • Assign and maintain space usage restriction
  • Configuring and maintaining print servers and print queues
  • Orderly startup and shutdown of servers as per laid down procedures // Startup and Shutdown document need to check
  • User management – Creation and deletion of users, groups/WI/GL on process flow and Tech know how of user creation and deletion and modification of Access privileges on F&P
  • Folder creation & provide the sharing permission on the folder in file Server
  • Monitor user authentication (details of users logging in and logging out) – Security Log check periodically/as part of daily check list for successful login and log out; Info about users who have not logged into the server >a month
  • Install software, patches, updates and service packs & Hot Fix
  • Monitor CPU, disk, memory and I/O parameters – List of critical parameters and services to be monitored and the threshold values
  • Verify logs in event logger and periodically clean up log files – Frequency of cleaning up the log files /Process/GL defined for the same
  • Schedule and optimize the services running on the server
  • Ensure all critical services are running on the server // Tool enabled monitoring of the identified services running on the server
  • Maintain list of all system files, root directories and volumes
  • Reload OS in case of a crash – Is the recovery document prepared as per the OS; Check the OS running on the servers and the recovery document availability.
  • OS performance tuning //Is the OS performance tuning Hardening
  • Management of Physical system elements such as servers and backup devices (ensuring Power supply is available, ensuring device are not taken out or in to DC with out approval)
  • Change of Hardware devices in case of failure
  • Configuration and maintenance tasks on devices in scope
  • Management of logical system components, such as operating systems and their configurations
  • Management of vendor deliverables where services are provided externally.
  • Troubleshooting server and operating system disruptions and working with vendors to resolve the issues.
  • Resolve all incident as per SLA.
  • Server re-installations and decommissioning and Re-installation of the operating systems, configuration and hardening and Re-installation and support of  specified Application.
  • Upgrades of system software, including operating systems, to ensure compatibility with the overall environment after the approval from approving authority.
  • Monitoring equipment conditions to ensure early recognition of likely faults along with providing recommendations for change
  • Capacity planning based on historical usage patterns and needs projections including replacement planning for obsolescence and end of life scenarios.
  • System equipment upgrades, where existing components are replaced with additional, higher-performance components
  • Planning for upgrades An analysis to be carried out to assess the impact of such changes on applications
