Quality Assurance Manager – UNMC

Reports to: Senior Technical Manager
About UNMC:
The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) is a statutory professional body responsible for the regulation of the nursing and midwifery profession in Uganda. Our mission is to set and regulate standards of training and practice, register and enroll nurses and midwives and provide professional guidance for public safety.
Key Result Areas:
·         Initiating and regularly reviewing Standard Operating procedures to be followed by the Council secretariat.
·         Liaising with training Institutions BTVET (MoE) National Council for Higher Education Health Professional Councils, Ministry of Health to ensure that training and certification of the Nursing/ Midwifery fraternity is in line with established standards, Uganda Nurses/ Midwives examination Board.
·         Guiding the Council on quality assurance and quality control aspects.
·         Developing tools to Monitor the Implementation of Standards in training Institutions.
·         Conducting regular Inspections.
·         Producing comprehensive reports for action by the Council.
·         Participating in planning activities on behalf of the department.
·         Guiding the Council Technical Planning Committee on Quality Assurance Matters.
·         Supervising and appraising Staff under his/her area of Jurisdiction;
·         Ensuring compliance with Sectoral, National and International Standards and practices.
·         Any other duty as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         A Bachelors degree in Nursing/Midwifery, Health Service management, or a health related field/discipline from a recognized University.
·         Possession of a Masters Degree in Public Health, Health Services Management, Nursing / Midwifery, or health-related field.
·         Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
·         Must have served at the level of Principal Nursing Officer for not less than 3 (three) years.
·         Experience dealing with Quality assurance aspects in a busy organisation is an added advantage.
·         Quality Orientation.
·         Creative and Innovative thinking.
·         Decision making and Judgement.
·         Ethics & integrity.
·         Knowledge of Laws, rules and regulations governing the Nursing/ Midwifery fraternity.
·         Team work and Interpersonal relations.
·         Excellent Communication Skills.
