World Vision Uganda Jobs – Regional Finance Officer

Reports to: Regional Operations Manager

Job Summary: To support, design and monitor the implementation of Financial Systems of the Region and be first level auditors, to ensure compliance in accordance with World Vision Policies and Procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to the Regional Office and project accounting staff in financial management, Accounting Systems in line with WVU policies and procedures:
  • Review financial and other Internal Controls in projects and advise in setting up workable controls in line with the Financial Policies and procedures:
  • Carry out competence assessment of project accounting staff based on reasonable benchmarks that can identify training needs and other issues of recommendation in line with WV Employee manual and build capacity to enable them understand
  • and interpret the Financial Manual (FM) and all its relevant accounting specifications there in:
  • Monitor asset management in accordance with World Vision Financial Manual
  • Provide guidance in the preparation of budgets, development of Project Proposals with a view of advising on key strategic financial implications as per FM and donor requirements:
  • Carry out financial reviews on prescribed objectives for particular projects active, phasing out projects and provide advice on strategic action
  • steps for smooth implementation and phase-out in accordance with financial guidelines:
  • Provide technical guidance on Audit and Follow-up on Audit Implementation for the Projects.
  • Identify, participate and advise management on the recruitment of all regional, cluster and ADP accounting staff, allocate assignments, monitor performance, mentor, coach and build their capacity, in line with the World Vision Mission.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • A University degree in Bachelor of Commerce/ Business Administration/Science and Accounting, with a major in Accounting/Finance and or a full professional qualification in A.C.C.A, CPA or CIMA or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years’ post qualification experience.
  • Extensive Computer knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SUN Accounting and Access is required.
  • Must have proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Procedures.
  • Written and Oral Communication skills are essential, and the incumbent must be a team builder, who is able to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
  • A high level of integrity is required.
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
