Sales Manager (Mobile Devices) Job at Telecom Company

Our Client is the biggest mobile phone retailer in East Africa that is seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidate for the above vacancy;
Job Summary:

·         This role takes responsibility of the Company’s Mobile Device product vertical. This is primarily a sales and retail management role, by driving handset and GSM device sales through Company’s retail network and any potential wholesale channels.   
·         The position will have responsibility for selection, ordering and pricing of devices and the subsequent sales, retailing and promotion of the devices.
·         The person will be required to have specific technical mobile handset & device knowledge including a reasonable level of general knowledge of on-device application and software functionality. In addition, they will need to have been exposed to handset logistics and supply chain management.
·         The person will hold a separate Profit and Loss statement for the Mobile Device Product Vertical, to which direct and indirect costs will be allocated. The person will be expected to generate a profit out of the Mobile Device product vertical within 12 months.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all mobile device sales activities to maximize sales revenues and growth and achieve revenue targets and goals
  • With the GM: Retail, be largely be responsible for the development of the mobile device strategy and sales plan for the company including the establishment of an annual mobile device budget and sales forecast.
  • Monitor performance for the various devices against the annual business plan including annual / quarterly / monthly sales plan + targets.
  • Direct the development and implementation of sales processes, tools and capabilities within  the Mobile Device sales vertical
  • Specify handset and device requirements specific to the Company channel including functionality, branding, packaging, accessories and any other technical specifications as may be required
  • Undertake testing and type approval of new handsets / devices
  • Continually stay abreast of new handset / device models and developments in the mobile industry
  • Coordinate and manage the supply side logistics for the importation and distribution of handsets into the Company channel
  • Implement repair and customer care structures and after sales support for handsets sold through the Company channel.
  • Act as a liason between handset manufacturers and Company on all device related matters
  • Coordinate in conjunction with Marketing Dept, the promotion and marketing of handset and devices.
  • In conjunction with the Retail Operations manager, co-ordinate and schedule device training for staff in the retail network.
  • Continually ensure that retail staff remain informed and updated with regards to latest handset models and developments with a view of creating an interested retail shop staff compliment
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in mobile handsets and devices
  • Good presentation skills, and high proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • A technical junkie personality with a passion for handsets and devices.
  • A strong sales bias with key competencies in the areas of logistics, marketing and retail/distribution.
  • University graduate in any discipline, preferably marketing studies. A very result-oriented approach is essential.
  • Pragmatic and ability to make quick decisions
  • Developed interpersonal skills – an extrovert personality with an ability to engage with staff and management colleagues to achieve results
  • Negotiation skills
  • Positive attitude to continual change and adaption
