The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) is seeking qualified Ugandan citizens to fill the below positions for the “Supporting Access to Justice, Fostering Equity & Peace” (SAFE Program) funded by USAID.
Job Summary: The Communications Specialist is responsible for writing/editing and designing project reports and brochures, and for creating and/or acquiring content for the project website, newsletters and other project materials
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Project Communications & Reporting
·         Coordinate reporting/filing/branding of documents/web content in accordance with donor rules and regulations.
·         Schedule the creation/acquisition of reporting content in accordance with donor policy.
·         Edit and/or approve print reports and web content contributions.
·         Respond effectively to public inquiries, comments and suggestions.
Web Design and Development
·         Contribute to the top-level and detailed design of the website (or e-newsletter, etc.), with a particular focus on the ways in which the goals for the site and the needs of users can be met through the provision of appropriate content.
·         Contribute to the process of information design to ensure that content is appropriately structured to meet the goals for the site and the needs of users.
·         Contribute to the selection or design of appropriate content management software.
·         Manage the creation/acquisition of content in accordance with the schedule.
Print & Web Content Creation & Maintenance
·         Prepare text content for websites, including feature articles, database content, links, FAQs, etc.
·         Design web forms. Specify the multimedia content needed to support or work alongside textual content.
·         Locate and select appropriate, existing multimedia content, including still images, animations, music and video.
·         Work with multimedia specialists in the creation of any new multimedia content.
·         Edit copy received from additional content contributors.
·         Update and maintain time-sensitive material.
·         Maintain menus, indexes and directories within the site.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Knowledge of Public Relations/Communications and/or Journalism, (Print, Radio Television & Web).
·         Knowledge of File Storage & Transfer Protocol (FTP), TELNET, HTML, JavaScript language browser formatting and browser security issues.
·         Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs.
·         Demonstrated understanding of scripted procedures and animation.
·         Education & training in a related field.
·         Graphic design capabilities and software know-how a plus.
·         Fluency in English.
