About Us:
Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified candidate to fill the following vacancy in the Commercial Banking unit of Business Banking.
Head, Commercial Banking
Job Summary:
·         The Head Commercial Banking will be accountable and drive the delivery of the Customer Value Proposition for the Commercial Banking segment through professional business management principals.
·         The role holder will be accountable for the delivery of agreed short and long term objectives in line with the strategic agenda of Stanbic Uganda.
·         Due to Standard Bank Groups presence across the continent the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to engage and be exposed to different markets and business practices in order that best practice is shared across the continent.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Key accountabilities will include;
·         Manage a team of Account Executives and Account Executive Assistants
·         Develop a culture of partnership through integration and collaboration with enabling, support and product functions.
·         Responsible for the Income Statement and Balance Sheet of Commercial Banking
·         Implement and drive the Customer Value Proposition for Commercial Banking focusing on service, sales culture, cross selling and increasing share of customer wallet across the portfolios.
·         Create a performance culture
·         Prepare financial budgets/ forecasts in line with strategic objectives, business/ operational risk, socio-political and economic market forces.
·         Implement and control the pricing tactics and parameters in line with pricing policy and financial targets.
·         Develop and implement sales and marketing best practices in support of the Commercial Banking Customer Value Proposition and customer expectations.
·         Implement processes to monitor portfolio capacity/ profitability.
·         Identify opportunities to migrate target relationships.
·         Develop strategies and tactics to grow market share by identifying opportunities to acquire customers in high potential sectors in collaboration with internal business partners.
·         Provides a regular 2nd face to top clients in Commercial Banking, ensuring that the full extent of their relationships with the Group is understood and managed appropriately.
·         Sets, monitors and manages (in collaboration with internal business partners) the delivery of service level agreements, standards and turnaround times within Commercial Banking in line with the Customer Value Proposition and retention requirements.
·         Take the lead by framing the Commercial Banking strategic context and priorities and inspiring people to take action.
·         Identify strengths and development areas ensuring staff receive the requisite learning and skills development interventions.
·         Champion talent management in Commercial Banking by creating and implementing a platform for growth, mentoring and development.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Relevant business related tertiary qualification e.g. Commerce degree is an advantage.
·         Previous relationship and managerial experience (8 years) in Corporate and Commercial Banking Exposure and understanding of matrix structures
·         Sound leadership and management skills
·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ownership: takes charge, directs, manages, organizes.
·         Socially confident/ relationship builder.
·         People management skills Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
·         Financial acumen
·         Excellent knowledge of general banking practices and procedures.
·         Seasoned knowledge of Credit principles and practices.
·         Seasoned knowledge of multiple legal entities in the commercial market and the legislative restrictions and requirements governing these from a financial services perspective.
·         Good understanding of current taxation laws.
·         Good knowledge of the Companies Act Integrity and honesty.
