Study Physician – MRC/UVRI Research Unit

Job Title: Study Physician (1 position)
Location: Kyamulimbwa, Uganda
The MRC/UVRI Research Unit on AIDS is a bilateral multidisciplinary research organisation funded by Medical Research Council (UK), DFID (UK) and other donor organisations and has been operational in Uganda since 1988. It is a centre of excellence in research conducting large-scale epidemiological and intervention studies, clinical trials, biological and immunological research and behavioural studies which have generated a wealth of research results to inform policy and practice. The unit established a field clinic in Kyamulibwa, one of its field stations to offer medical care to study participants and also conduct clinic based studies. The Unit therefore invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the above position:
Job purpose: To support and facilitate the conduct of daily clinical study activities and provide medical care to study participants 
Duties & Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for accomplishing the following:
·         Provide follow-up assessment and medical care to study participants.
·         Participate in protocol development, reviews and preparation for ethics and regulatory submissions.
·         Provide appropriate training and mentorship to study clinic team.
·         Contribute to development and implementation of participant recruitment strategies.
·         Screen participants for study eligibility.
·         Coordinate participant tests and procedures and collect data as required by the protocol
·         Maintain an effective and ongoing communication with study team, investigators and sponsors
·         Manage daily study clinic activities including problem solving, communication and protocol management.
·         Contribute to research through writing of scientific papers as required.
Education, Skills and Experience
·         MMED (Internal Medicine)
·         Experience in managing patients with non communicable diseases
·         Experience in researching
