Job Title: Programme Officer, Communication and Advocacy
Reports to: The Deputy Secretary General
Duration:   3 yrs renewable
Main purpose of the position:
  • Promote involvement of all players in areas of child survival, development, protection and participation through awareness creation among communities, organizations and agencies in sectoral areas on the rights of children.
  • Advocate for adoption of appropriate laws, policies and strategies necessary for improving the condition and life of children.
Key Outputs:
  • Communication strategies for mobilization of communities, organizations and agencies for effective and efficient delivery of child survival, development, Protection and participation activities.
  • Awareness and need for resourcing programme activities that directly or indirectly benefit Children
Key functions:
  • Write proposals and arrange programmes geared towards improvement of the situation of the child
  • Disseminate information about the needs and benefit of integrating the child in development initiatives and other child related activities, encourage social and political mobilization, support and commitment towards child survival, development, protection and participation
Qualifications:
  • A degree in mass Communication, public relations or related field
  • Post graduate qualification with relevant experience in fields of social services, mass communication or public relations
Experience:
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years practical experience in advocacy and communication at a National or International level.
In addition the candidate should possess:
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written Working experience related to implementation of child related activities Knowledge of computer applications is a must
