Program Officer, Lake Mburo Career Job at African Wildlife Foundation (AWF)

For more than 50 years, the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) has been a key player in African Conservation and sustainable development. AWF is currently seeking a talented professional to support its conservations efforts in Lake Mburo, T4B Program, Uganda.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief of Party, T4B this position will be responsible for effective administration, coordination, communication and implementation of the program activities in Lake Mburo. Particularly this position will take the lead in AWF’s support to protected areas, including planning, implementing and evaluating interventions related to protected area support, ecological monitoring, capacity building as well as in development of Natural Resources Management (NRM) plans and designated projects in Lake Mburo working with consultants where applicable to have these plans completed. This position will assist the supervisor in refinement delivery of the Conservation Actions (CAs) in Lake Mburo, coordinating, liaising and nurturing partnerships with local/national conservation NGOs and CBOs; communities and relevant state departments/ministries in Uganda.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate will;
·         Have a university degree in Project Management, Business and/or Natural Resources
·         Have a minimum of 5 years work experience consistent with the types of duties outlined above
·         Have demonstrated experience in conservation program work
·         Have practical experience of NRM and land use planning in the landscape, and of protected area management and community conservation preferred
·         Have excellent writing skills
·         Have excellent interpersonal skills
·         Have good organizational aptitude
·         Have ability to work professionally and efficiently and to balance numerous projects
·         Possess the flexibility to assess and react appropriately to changing circumstances
·         Have ability to pay attention to detail
·         Have ability to meet strict deadlines
·         Have ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment
·         Have excellent coordinating ability
·         Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
·         Be a quick learner / Fast adaptor
·         Have enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to conservation
·         Have computer literacy – ability to work effectively in Word, Internet and Excel software
·         Have ability to conduct occasional fieldtrips as required /appropriate
