HR Jobs at NGO – Human Resource Officer in ACDI/VOCA

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Background:
Since 1963 and in 145 countries, ACDI/VOCA has empowered people in developing and transitional nations to succeed in the global economy. Based in Washington, O.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services’, enterprise development, community development and food security in order to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil society.
ACDI/VOCA has been awarded the USAID-funded PL 480 Title II Development Food Aid Program called Resiliency through Wealth, Agriculture, and Nutrition in Karamoja (RWANU), to be implemented from August, 2012 through July, 2017 in Karamoja, Uganda. RWANU will focus on two strategic objectives to reduce food insecurity among vulnerable rural populations in selected sub-counties of Amudat, Moroto, Napak and Nakapiripirit: (1) improved availability and access to food; and (2) reduced malnutrition in pregnant and lactating mothers and children under five.
The Program will promote diversified livelihoods strategies including linkages to market opportunities to ensure long-term food security and resilience to shocks. We are currently seeking senior-level professionals in the above fields:
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Will manage ACDI/VOCA’s policies and procedures regarding employees’ entry, their stay, and exit.
Qualifications
  • The Human Resource Officer should have a relevant degree in Human Resource Management, with seven (7) years relevant managerial working experience in human resource and staff development.
In addition, the following skills and experience will be required:
  • Fluency in English, good communication skill, both oral and written,
  • Knowledge of the Uganda Labor Laws,
  • Knowledge of man-power planning, and identification of training needs,
  • Familiarity in working with NGO’s, ability to work well under pressure and a team player.
