Job Title: Director, Finance
We are retained by Uganda Wildlife Authority to assist identify qualified, experienced and competent individuals of integrity to fill seven senior positions in its headquarters in Kampala.
UWA is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities. It was established in 1996 by the Wildlife Act Cap 200 of 2000. Its mission is to conserve and sustainably manage the wildlife and protected areas in Uganda in partnership with the neighboring communities and other stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.
Our Client, an equal opportunity employer, is looking for high caliber, self-motivated and results oriented Ugandan professionals to fill the posts. This position is for a period of four years, renewable.
Job Purpose: Reporting to Executive Director, the Director, Finance will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the finance directorate including planning, organization, coordinating and controlling the Authority’s finances and investments, in accordance with the government and UWA financial rules and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Develop and put in place financial control systems and procedures in accordance with the government and UWA financial regulations.
·         Prepare annual budgets and departmental plans that optimize the resources available to the financial commitments of UWA in line with the stipulated guidelines
·         Prepare quarterly financial reports and annual accounts within the statutory deadline in accordance with professional accounting standards.
·         Advise the Board and Management on the financial performance of UWA in accordance with the approved budgets and reporting guidelines
·         Liaise with the office of the Auditor General for the conduct of audits and preparation of audit reports in accordance with professional accounting standards
·         Supervise the maintenance of accounting records, vouchers and other documentation, and record all financial transactions of UWA in line with financial procedures and accounting standards
·         Ensure that all financial commitments and payments by UWA are properly authorized, settled in a timely manner.
·         Prepare business plans in order to identify and focus on the strategies to achieve financial sustainability in line with the strategic plan
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Masters degree in finance or accounting or in related fields
·         Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CA etc.
·         Training in computer accounting software.
·         A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in financial accounting and management, of which six years must be at senior level in a busy public or private institution.
