General Manager Job Vacancy at SINFA in Uganda

Our client, SINFA is a for-profit start-up company which will offer commercial telecommunications and outsourcing services to address the needs of the local communities in Gulu, Amuru, Adjumani and Moyo districts. SINFA is part of the international development project Internet Now! that has a direct focus on services providing employment and income to community members through Internet. With its headquarters in Gulu, the company will set up a total of 100 centres in northern Uganda, forming a social enterprise following an innovative business model.
The ideal candidate should currently be residing in Gulu or willing to relocate to Gulu. The successful candidate will receive a gross monthly salary in the range of UGX 6,188,500 – 7,735,620.
Duties & Responsibilities
In order to execute its business plan, SINFA is seeking to recruit a visionary, entrepreneurial, and results oriented individual to fill the position of General Manager. The position will be based at the SINFA headquarters in Gulu. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
·         Managing the operations and providing strategic leadership and direction to SINFA;
·         Ensuring a successful introduction of services, create a profitable business, and achieve the company’s objectives as defined in its Business Plan;
·         Monitoring the network and service roll-out and embedding the delivered network and services in line with SINFA’s Business Plan;
·         Contributing and working closely with partners in deploying the network and services;
·         Ensuring that management systems and business processes are in place to achieve efficient and effective monitoring and reporting of SINFA’s operations;
·         Ensuring timely, regular and accurate reporting of business and financial progress to SINFA’s shareholders and the relevant regulatory authorities;
·         Providing leadership and effectively managing SINFA’s staff in Gulu and in the centres;
·         Ensuring appropriate expertise and skill set for executing the business processes; and
·         Building strong and effective working relationships including national and local governments, other NGOs and the private sector.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
·         An advanced degree, preferably an MBA or a Masters in Economics, Information Technology or a related field;
·         Proven leadership skills in managing a company, preferably in the telecommunication and/or outsourcing industries in one or more challenging locations in East Africa;
·         Demonstrable good judgment, proven analytical skills and ability to practically steer for timely delivery of results;
·         Ability to support high team performance and experience in leading and motivating staff, including geographically remote teams;
·         Experience in “dealing with” government agencies, private sector companies, and donors at senior level locally and regionally in East Africa;
·         High level financial and business management skills for effective business monitoring and reporting;
·         An active commitment to promoting gender equity and the interests of marginalised people in all aspects of the company’s work; and
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence, and negotiate.
