Assistant DRR Programme Manager Job at Action Against Hunger (ACF) in Uganda

Action Against Hunger (ACF) is an international humanitarian NGO. For over thirty years it has been implementing Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, in Otuke, Gulu, Amuru, Nwoya, Kaabong, Napak, Moroto, Kampala and Wakiso Districts.

ACF is looking for an Assistant DRR Program Manager (Drought Risk Reduction) based in Moroto with frequent travels to the field. The person will be under the direct supervision of the DRR Program Manager and will supervise the Hydro-geological Officer and the Supervisor of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) plans.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Ensure that methodologies used give good quality results and are adapted to the context.
·         Ensure field assessments are performed in an accurate and unbiased manner.
·         Optimize daily activities.
·         Create GIS data from field work results.
·         Ensure the reliability of the existing database.
·         Regularly update the existing database with the data gathered on field.
·         Create a large range of maps as required from the GIS data collection.
·         Assist monthly WASH/DRR meetings.
·         Assist with the ongoing revision of the ACF WASH strategy in line with the local context.
·         Ensure a well-organised programme; encourage an integrated WASH approach.
·         Participate in the harmonisation of a WASH strategy with both ACF’s implementing partners and the District authorities.
·         Hold regular meetings with District, sub-county and local officials to provide updates on ACF activities and encourage good cooperation.
·         Attend WASH Cluster/ sector meetings at the District level.
·         Attend donor meetings and field visits as required.
·         Perform any other duties asked of you to support the work of the DRR team.
Academic Qualifications:
Diploma Required, Bachelors Degree preferred (hydrogeology, physical surveys or related field)

Experience:
Good experience in ArcGIS with knowledge in hydrogeology.

Specific Skills:

·         Knowledge of Excel, Word and ArcGIS are essential. Access is an advantage.
·         Excellent interpersonal and team-work skills;
·         Capacity to organize and supervise a small team;
·         Ability to make decisions with little supervision and a high level of flexibility;
·         Strong communication skills;
·         Fluent command of English (both written and oral) Knowledge of Nkaramonjong dialect is a plus.
